Arsenal in Talks to Sign Talented MLS Winger As Competition for Bukayo Saka in January. Arsenal are considering making a move for Orlando City star Facundo Torres by Toni Lima, the scout who spotted Neymar at Santos, according to reports.
With Arsenal’s squad depth coming under scrutiny in the last few weeks, Torres will likely provide competition for Bukayo Saka, who limped off this past weekend during Arsenal’s clash with Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal are expected to hold talks with the Uruguay international agent, who will be Saka’s competition if they can do a deal in January and probably contribute to Arsenal’s title run.
The Gunners have started superbly this season, but Saka’s injury on Sunday, October 30th, showed Mikel Arteta needs quality depth to be able to compete with the Manchester City juggernaut, according to Sky Sports.
Arsenal target Torres
Arsenal in Talks to Sign Talented MLS Winger As Competition for Bukayo Saka in January. According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners are looking to strengthen in January, and Torres is one of their targets.
The 22-year-old has been superb for Orlando City this season, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists. Although it is still in the early stages, it is still unclear if the Gunners will offer a deal after talks with his camp.
The youngster scored against Arteta’s team in preseason and only joined Orlando in January from Uruguayan outfit Penarol for £7.75 million and inked a four-year deal.
However, a deal from the Premier League giants may be too good to turn down. Arsenal’s interest in Torres has been piqued by Toni Lima, who was appointed as a scout in 2021.
Lima was among the first scouts who spotted Neymar and Philippe Coutinho.
